Funeral Price List

All funeral directors are required to publish this price list for a standardised set of products and services. This is to help you think through all your options and compare prices.

Wreath

Attended Funeral (funeral director’s charges only)

An attended funeral is where family and friends have a ceremony, event or service for a burial or cremation.

Provision of all legal and administrative arrangements £640

24 Hour collection of the deceased (hospital location normally within 40 miles of the funeral director’s premises) into the funeral director’s care £200

Preparation and care of the deceased prior to the cremation £250

Providing a suitable coffin – this will be a wood veneered coffin, standard size 6’2″ x 23″ x 12″ £225

Use of Chapel of Rest for viewings, by appointment with the funeral director £300

Provision of the funeral hearse and bearers to take the deceased to the cemetery or crematorium at an agreed date and time (normally within 40 miles of the funeral director’s premises) £400

Unattended Funeral

This is a simple unattended funeral. Family and friends can choose to have a celebration of life event, but will not be at the burial or cremation itself.

Burial (funeral director’s charges only) £1695

Cremation (funeral director’s charges plus the cremation fee) £990

Fees you must pay

For Attended or Unattended burial funeral, the burial fee* £150 – £21,975

The typical cost of a burial is £1,698

For a new grave, you will also need to pay for the plot. For an existing grave with a memorial in place, you may need to pay a removal/replacement fee. Depending on the cemetery, they may also charge other fees.

The Cremation Fee** for an Attended Cremation Funeral is £475 – £1200

The average cost of a Cremation is £1000

Additional Funeral Director Products and Services

There may be additional products and services your funeral director can supply or arrange (on your behalf). Examples are:

Additional mileage (price per mile) £2

Additional transfers of the deceased person’s body (e.g.to their home or place of worship etc.) (Price per transfer) £300

Surcharges or additional fees may apply for the following:

The funeral director can give you a full list of what they can supply. They are likely to charge for these additional products and services, so you may choose to take care of some arrangements without their involvement, or you can use a different supplier.

*This fee (which is sometimes called and interment fee) is the charge made for digging and closing a new grave, or for reopening and closing an existing grave.

** In England, Wales and Northern Ireland, you will usually need to pay doctors’ fee as well. This is the charge for two doctors to sign the medical Certificates for Cremation.
